Roger Higginbottom from the small town of Dingleton has made history today by submitting what is possibly the most baffling helpdesk ticket on record. After spotting the town’s new wind turbine from his office window, Roger was convinced it was a malfunctioning giant spinning office fan and promptly filed a complaint with the IT department.

According to the helpdesk log, Roger’s ticket read: “The large fan outside my office is spinning uncontrollably and causing a draft that’s messing with my concentration. Would appreciate if IT can fix or turn it off. It’s very distracting and may blow papers off desks.” The ticket was marked “urgent” by the bewildered support staff and escalated to facilities management.

Attempts to clarify the issue via telephone conversation only deepened the confusion. When asked if he meant the actual fan in his office, Roger insisted he was referring to the “massive whirring thing” visible through the window. “It’s definitely an office fan, just a very powerful model,” he explained. “Maybe someone turned the speed up to ‘hurricane mode’?”

The helpdesk team eventually sent a technician to inspect the “faulty fan” only to discover the turbine—installed last week as part of the town’s green energy initiative—operating precisely as intended. The technician recalled enlightening Roger on the basics of renewable energy while politely suggesting he might want to update his understanding of office equipment.

In response, Roger has since amended his helpdesk ticket with the note: “Thank you for fixing the… whatever it is. Please let me know if you can get them to install one of those smaller fans inside my office, though. The breeze would be nice.”

Town officials are now considering a gentle informational campaign to educate locals about the new turbine and discourage further calls to IT in hope of resolving “fan-related” issues. Meanwhile, Roger is reportedly shopping for a desktop fan with variable speed to avoid any future confusion.
