In what experts are calling “the most unusual IT support request of the decade,” a helpdesk ticket was recently submitted by a local gardener after one of his trees apparently lodged a formal complaint about excessive watering.
The incident began last Thursday when gardening enthusiast Barry Bloomfield noticed a strange rustling coming from his ancient oak tree. “At first, I thought it was just the wind playing tricks,” Barry explained, “but then I heard what sounded like a grumble — like the tree was actually trying to speak to me!”
Taking his concerns seriously, Barry reached for his tablet and submitted a helpdesk ticket to the local municipal arborist support line with the subject: “Tree Complains It’s Being Overwatered.” The ticket read: “My tree, whom I affectionately call ‘Ol’ Pete,’ has made it clear through rustling leaves and an ominous creaking sound that it feels like I’m drowning it. It’s been raining a lot, and I’ve kept watering twice a day because, you know, plants need love. But Ol’ Pete seems unhappy and possibly developing a personality.”
Helpdesk technician Jenna McAllister was initially puzzled but quickly adapted. “You hear a lot of strange things at the helpdesk, but a tree complaining via a concerned gardener? That was a first. I advised Barry to reduce watering to once every third day and recommended some light pruning to help with tree ‘temper management.’” Jenna adds, “I wasn’t sure if the tree would email back, but apparently peace has been restored.”
The situation has sparked heated online debate over whether gardening support lines should start offering “plant wellness therapy” as part of their services.
Barry, however, remains hopeful about his arboreal friend’s future. “I just want Ol’ Pete to be happy. If he wants to complain again, I guess he knows the number to call now.”
